Amongst the the major features in the Tenth Anniversary Special the "HOW TO BUILD A DALEK" section is perhaps one of the most notable. This was the first time that any detailed plans for the Daleks had been published and although slightly inaccurate it was certainly possible to use them to build a full scale replica of the series' most famous monster.
In the image above the reprint edition is in the bottom half of the picture and illustrates how close to the original these pages are. In fact you would probably be hard pressed to notice any differences except, if you examined an original and reprint edition together, the slightly more vivid colours in the reprint illustration to the left.
This was the only section of the 2003 edition where the text was not re-set. The pages were instead carefully scanned in order to be reproduced.
However, Ralph Montagu points out that the inclusion of this section of the magazine almost scuppered the whole project:
"For a brief period, it seemed that the project might have been halted since the brand protection dept were concerned that we should not be encouraging people to build their own Daleks! Fortunately they agreed that it could go ahead."
