About The Cuttings Archive

Cuttings Archive Aug./Sept. 1998

The Cuttings Archive first went online in July 1998 and has become the primary online resource for Doctor Who related achive material from the printed press and media.

Cuttings sourced from this site have been used on TV and by specialist UK magazines such as ('the official') Doctor Who Magazine, SFX and others as a source of rare press cuttings - the site has been positively reviewed and mentioned on radio, in books, magazines/newspapers and online, being described by one reviewer in the following glowing terms:

"Giving the BBC website a run for its money, this highly professionally designed (both technically and typographically) website has built an enviable reputation for DOCTOR WHO archive material. "

This site is also, to the best of our knowledge, the only Doctor Who website listed by the British Film Institute (bfi) in their prestigious online Film Links Gateway - a listing of websites individually chosen on the basis of their use for the purposes of "education, information, creativity, cultural diversity and current awareness". Researched and edited by the Information Unit in the bfi National Library the listing describes The Cuttings Archive as "an impressive cuttings database".

On the 23rd of November 2003 Cuttings Archive Webmaster and Editor, Roger Anderson, appeared on the BBC Radio Wales programme mousemat to discuss Doctor Who on the web, The Cuttings Archive itself, the 40th anniversary and the future of Doctor Who now that a new series has been announced.

Doctor Who @ 40

In addition we worked with the producers of the fortieth anniversary Doctor Who @ 40 programming on the British satellite/cable channel UK Gold in sourcing a large amount of material for broadcast. Produced by Free @ Last TV the specially made documentaries, shorts and story introductions were greeted with enthusiasm by the Doctor Who fan community and helped to celebrate the past, and future, of Doctor Who in style.
