Episode Guide - a guide to Season 2 of Doctor Who 2006

The Doctor and Rose

All episodes were first aired in the UK.

Series two of Doctor Who launched in the UK on the 15th of April 2006 on BBC ONE.

In addition to each weeks Doctor Who episode companion programmes will be broadcast throughout the season.

Doctor Who Confidential as in 2005 the programme aired every week on BBC THREE after each episode on BBC ONE was broadcast, at least one repeat airing was made during the following week. A special confidential also aired as part of a three hour long Doctor Who night on Sunday the 9th of April on BBC THREE.

Totally Doctor Who was a new children's magazine programme dedicated to Doctor Who which aired from Thursday the 13th of April on BBC ONE at 5PM. It was repeated every Saturday at 6.30pm on the CBBC children's channel.

Episode 1 - New Earth

Original air date: April 15th 2006

The Doctor and Rose board the Tardis for new adventures in time and space. But when they visit mankind's new home, far in the future, they find gruesome secrets hidden inside a luxury hospital. And an enemy thought long since dead, the paper-thin Cassandra, is out for revenge...

Episode 2 - Tooth and Claw

Original air date: Sat. April 22nd 2006

The Doctor and Rose travel back to the year 1879 when an encounter in the Scottish Highlands with Queen Victoria and a band of Warrior Monks reveals a deadly trap, dating back centuries.

Perhaps the local legends about a werewolf could really be true.

Episode 4 - The Girl in the Fireplace

Original air date: Sat. May 6th 2006

Madame Du Pompadour finds the court at Versailles under attack from sinister clockwork killers.

Her only hope of salvation lies with the man who has haunted her dreams since childhood - a mysterious stranger known only as the Doctor. Can a broken clock summon the Lord of Time?

Episode 5 - Rise of the Cybermen

Original air date: Sat. May 13th 2006

The Tardis is trapped on a parallel Earth and Rose discovers that her father is still alive.

But sinister forces are at work, and British society is being prepared for the Ultimate Upgrade. Meanwhile, an old enemy of the Doctor's is about to be reborn.

Episode 6 - The Age of Steel

Original air date: Sat. May 20th 2006

The Cybermen take control of London and start converting the populace, in the conclusion of this gripping two-part episode. While Jackie falls under Lumic's control, the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are reduced to fugitives in a world of terror. A last, desperate attack on the Cyberfactory is their only chance - but will they all survive?

Episode 7 - The Idiots Lantern

It is 1953, the Coronation year of Queen Elizabeth II, and the people of Great Britain huddle round their television sets to witness the great event. But behind the celebrations there are rumours of monsters on the streets, and the tormented Mr Magpie is hiding a strange and alien secret.
