This site was originally created by Roger Anderson in July, 1998.
Above: Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor.
Jon Pertwee played the Doctor for just over 4 years, from January 1970 to June 1974.
This era was the first to be made in colour and saw the Doctor teaming up with the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce (UNIT) under the command of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney).
It also saw the introduction of the Doctors' popular 'arch-nemesis', the Master, played by Roger Delgado.
Pertwee's Doctor was the "dandy" who followed Troughton's "cosmic hobo", for much of tenure he was exiled to Earth by the Time Lords and 'forced' to work for the authorities in order to aid his search for an escape from exile.
He fought a memorable legion of monsters from old favourites the Daleks to Pertwee era classics such as the Sea Devils, The Sea Devils 1972, and giant maggots, The Green Death 1973.
Pertwee relinquished the role to Tom Baker in 1974.
You will find a chronological, Season by Season, listing of each Pertwee story on the pages in this section. Use the links above-left to view each page. If a listing is hyper-linked click on the text to view the relevant Radio Times cuttings.
