Radio Times: Seasons 12-18: 1974-1981

Tom Baker and Elizabeth Sladen

Above: Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, & Elizabeth Sladen, companion Sarah-Jane Smith.

Tom Baker played the Doctor for over 6 years, from December 1974 to March 1981.

During his era the series reached new heights of popularity in the UK and also broke into new markets in the USA.

Baker is perhaps the best remembered Doctor, certainly the series reached new heights of popular and critical acclaim during his tenure with it's early mix of Science Fiction and Gothic Horror and later comedic styles.

Some of the most popular and highest rated Doctor Who stories were aired during Tom Baker's tenure; probably the most notable of these being Genesis of the Daleks (1975), Talons of Weng-Chiang (1977) and City of Death (1979).

Baker relinquished the role to Peter Davison in 1981.

You will find a chronological, Season by Season, listing of each Tom Baker story on the pages in this section. Use the links above-left to view each page. If a listing is hyper-linked click on the text to view the relevant Radio Times cuttings.
