Peter Davison

Above: Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor.

Peter Davison played the Doctor for 3 years, from January 1982 to March 1984.

During his time in the role the series maintained it's popularity despite being moved from it's traditional Saturday teatime slot on BBC 1.

Davison created a character that was very much the vulnerable hero in contrast to Tom Baker's portrayal of the Fourth Doctor.

Davison's final story, The Caves of Androzani, is viewed by many fans as being one of the finest Doctor Who stories ever - Davison himself has subsequently commented that this story was his favourite and probably the best that he was in.

He relinquished the role to Colin Baker in 1984.

You will find a chronological, Season by Season, listing of each Davison story on each page in this section. Use the links above-left to view each page. If a listing is hyper-linked click on the text to view the relevant Radio Times cuttings.
